The phenomenon of idolizing celebrities among young people has become extremely common in the digital age. While this trend has many potential risks, I would argue that the merits outweigh the drawbacks.

On the one hand, idolizing celebrities can have some drawbacks. The most significant one is the potential for distraction from academic pursuits. Many teenagers spend excessive amounts of their time following their idol's activities on both social media and in real life, which often leads to the neglect of their studies. Furthermore, young individuals may develop unrealistic standards of beauty and success. This frequently results in low self-esteem in the teenagers, making them feel that they cannot measure up to their idols.

On the other hand, I believe the positive impacts of having role models are more profound. Firstly, celebrities can serve as sources of inspiration. Many idols are famous because of their hard work and dedication. Take Cristiano Ronaldo, a well-known footballer, as an example. He has motivated many teenagers, from athletes to normal citizens, by his rigorous training and strict self-discipline. Besides, joining a fan community allows young people to connect and have more relationships. Moreover, in these days, many fan communities often organize charitable activities. Therefore encourage teenagers to contribute to society.

More and more young people show their admiration towards famous athletes and celebrities. From my perspective, the merits outweigh the drawbacks.
Admiring celebrities and famous athletes could help youth strengthen their skills. For example, famous people can inspire motivation and good lifestyles such as discipline in contemporary society, and youth tend to follow these lifestyles. As a result, young people have more motivation to improve their skills, change their lifestyle in a better way. For a long run, with practicing and discipline, youth can receive good academic performance or increase their productivity in working.
On the other hand, obsessive following could lead to the imitation of youngsters. Famous athletes and celebrities usually show up their luxury lifestyles on social media, and young people tend to copy this lifestyle. A part of youth could imitate their own life, such as acting like celebrities, having pressure with their appearance or low self-esteem because of lack of money. That can lead to mental health issues in young people.

The admiration for media and sports stars of youngsters nowadays is growing fast. In my view point, the merits outweigh the demerits.
First of all, admiring media and sports stars can encourage young people on their self-development journey, because sports and media stars would be role models for them to take up some hobbies such as physical hobbies, mental hobbies.For example, a famous basketball player Kobe Bryan, who is known for his talent,consistency and his strong work ethic, which motivates young people to engage in sports and take up physical hobbies. Moreover, watching favourite media or sports stars not only reduces depression, stress but it also can help youngsters feel more positive,more entertaining.
